Visitation Programs

Library Visits
The Marysville and Raymond Public Libraries have an outreach program just for home-bound Seniors in Union County.  If you know a bookworm or a Senior who would be interested in books on tape or other materials offered by the library, call Patty O'Conner (937) 642-1876 x-32.

Senior Companion Visits  The Union County Senior Services offers a visitation program that provides a visit to an older adult in their home for 1 1/2 hours a week.  Senior Companions have gone through a meticulous screening process and a background check prior to being certified to begin visits.  Companions are informed of senior programs that are available in the county and are especially good at conversation and just being a good friend!  If you, or anyone you know could benefit from having a Senior Companion, e-mail or call Molly at Union County Senior Services at (937) 644-9629.

Senior to Senior Call Program  Union County Senior Services will pair interested seniors with another in the community for a calling partner.  Partners will agree to call each other on a regular basis at a prearranged time.  An employee of Senior Services will fill in when one of the partners is out of town, or unable to make the call.  Call or e-mail Union County Senior Services if you are interested in participating.  (937) 644-9629

Senior Watch Program  The Union County Sheriff’s Office currently offers two programs that help safeguard the independent lifestyle of the Seniors in our county.

Senior Watch Call Program— A computer will call your home daily at a prearranged time with a pre-recorded message.  If you do not answer the call, the computer will call back in 20 minutes.  If there is still no answer, your chosen “keyholder” will be contacted and will be asked to check on you.  If the “keyholder’” is unable to be reached, paramedics and law enforcement officers will be dispatched to your home.

Participants must notify the Communication Center when they anticipate that they will not be home for the call.

Senior Watch Deputy Visit—A Deputy will periodically stop by to check on the program participant.  The visits will be brief.  Deputies will declare their presence by announcing that they are just “stopping by”.

Call Deputy Rod Wilson at (937) 645-4110 x – 4345 if you would like to learn more about these programs.

TLC Phone Calls  Comfort Keepers was founded with a single goal in mind - to help people stay in their own homes.  Caregivers provide a range of care including Telephone assurance calls.

Comfort Keepers is located at 804 West Fifth Street in Marysville and can be reached by calling (937) 642-6474 or toll free at (866) 469-2300.

Visit A Friend Day  Do you have a friend in Union County that you haven't seen for a while?  The Union County Agency Transportation Service (UCATS) sponsors a day once a quarter that older adults in Union County can visit a friend.  On that day, transportation is donation only for Seniors to visit other Seniors in Union County.  E-mail or call the UCATS office (937) 642-5100 to schedule your visit.
